[MPlayer-users] WTF is MTRR?

I've searched the translations looking for things that could make
MPlayer's performance flow better. I found something about MTRR.
There it says it can give a great performance boost. I've read and
executed the instructions. I'd like to know better how does it work
and where it really gives better performance and when it just doesn't
matter.
