[MPlayer-users] mencoder -oac copy + -audiofile troubles

Hey, I've been having some troubles trying to mux an external mp3 file
into an avi with mencoder. MPlayer can play the movie fine with:
mplayer in.avi -audiofile in.mp3
A/V sync is perfect, even with seeking. However, if I try to put the
audio into a new avi file with:
mencoder -oac copy -ovc copy in.avi -audiofile in.mp3
I get tons and tons of skipped frames and it totally fails. If I add
-mc 0 -noskip, mencoder proceeds somewhat normally, and I get a
"working" avi file as output, but...
...when I play the output avi file, audio PTS runs about 1000x too
fast and A-V grows huge. It's possible to watch the file, and A/V
seems synced, but seeking breaks sync totally.
This isn't the first time I've noticed this problem. Would it be
helpful for me to upload files demonstrating it to MPHQ?
Rich
