When trying to record from TV mencoder refuses to recognise pcm sound.

This is not a problem of my debian unstable instalation, because on another
machine it works. 

What library am I missing? I looked through the docs and couldn't find any
reference to audio PCM, and it's not listed among disabled drivers...
