hi, 

I've written a basic automating wrapper script for mencoder which auto 
crops, automatically finds the main title on a dvd and sets a suitable
bitrate. Also can be overridden on a number of areas. It's the first thing 
i've written in perl ever, but it *seems* pretty reliable, so if anyone 
feels like trying it out:

you also need the libdvdread source installed, and the tools it contains 
in teh src directory (ifo_dump and title_info) available on your path. It 
doesn't use any decryption itself as the script only lokos at the overall 
structure etc, not and video itself - that would be the hard bit.. where 
mplayer comes into it :)

any constructive comments / suggestions very very welcome. I plan to 
abstract the functionality to a package and create an additional GTK front 
end as well.
