[MPlayer-users] a52: CRC check failed / can be a copy protection scheme ?

First of all : It's not a scractched dvd.
I've bought a copy of "LOTR" dvd published in Italy. I've tried to rip it and 
it gives me CRC errors on chapter 26 (exactly when Saruman listens for its 
spy-birds). I've tried to read it with a playstation2. Same problem.
While playing it begins to loop in that point. 
Then I've rented the same dvd (it's the same, with all its "not for renting" 
advisory ...) to check if it is a problem of my own or not.
I went to chapter 26 ... same problem !
I've lent my dvd to a friend of mine (playstation2). Same problem.

Is it possible there's a copy protection scheme that will prevent to rippit 
(and also to play it on some dvd readers!) ?

I'm very upset.
