dma, maybe your drive is still in pio mode...

If everything is correct, you will see something like
'UDMA modes: udma0 udma1 *udma2'. After that you can get raw read speed
using hdparm -t /dev/hdc. This won't be correct, however, e.g. for me it
shows half of the real speed...
