Hi again,
	well, thank you very much Moritz, you hit the spot.
In fact, what was happening with the frameno avis was that there's no
codec available for frameno encoding, so mplayer was giving up on video,
unless I specified null, which as you suggested exists. Specifying 
dummy works flawlessly.
