[MPlayer-users] Mplayer compiled fine No gui

I have compiled Mplayer latest version fine. The only problem is I used 
the ./configure --enable-gui paramater and there is still no gui. I can 
play a dvd by entering mplayer /dev/cdrom at the prompt in terminal but 
no gui appears. i am sure i am just incorrectly entering the parameters. 
any help would be appreciated.
