[MPlayer-users] Skipping frame with mencoder

Hi list,
only lately I paid attention to a message that maybe was there all the time, 
and I think some audio sync problem I'm experiencing could come from this. 
Every time I try to encode a dvd (no difference if I first dump the content 
with -dumpstream or if I do it directly from dvd) to AVI with lavc mpeg4, I 
get this:

Movie-Aspect is 1.78:1 - prescaling to correct movie aspect.

Skipping frame!
Pos:   4.4s    112f ( 0%)  52fps Trem:   0min   0mb  A-V:0.081 [569:1536]

Pos:   9.1s    231f ( 0%)  39fps Trem:  74min 2273mb  A-V:0.023 [1087:1536]

The number of skipped frames may vary from dvd to dvd, but for one dvd it is 
always the same.
What's the best way to handle this situation?
