[MPlayer-users] no sound using alsa drivers

Hi there!

I tried to play a movie with ALSA drivers as follows.

mplayer -ao alsa9 movie.avi

however i'm getting message as follows:

Checking audio filter chain for 48000Hz/2ch/16bit ->
48000Hz/2ch/16bit...
AF_pre: af format: 2 bps, 2 ch, 48000 hz, little endian signed int 
AF_pre: 48000Hz 2ch Signed 16-bit (Little-Endian)
Could not open/initialize audio device -> no sound.
Audio: no sound

I believe my ALSA drivers are working properly. I can use ALSAlib with
XMMS. alsa-mixer works also .....

did I missed something from manual ?
