Never seen this. You must have horribly mismastered DVDs, in which
case there's no way to split them correctly with MPlayer G1 without
using many TB's of temp space. You should just try to find a good
chapter boundary...

This really doesn't matter. The goal is not to make both 'halves' X/2
minutes, where X is the length of the movie. The goal is to split it
enough that you can fit excellent quality video along with AC3 audio,
which means you can deviate A LOT from the exact middle. Even 1/3 and
2/3 would be ok.
