[MPlayer-users] tvout: ugly/distorted downscaling 800x600 on dxr3 and G400 with tv-out (tscc codec, divx4)

Hi mplayer-users,

I have a video encoded with the screen capture codec tscc (techsmith, camtasia)
and mp3 as audio and also a divx4 video with 800x600.
(It's a recorded lecture session of computer architecture).
examples can be found here:
http://porta.informatik.uni-freiburg.de/lectures/TI1/LocalReplay/AVI/

So now my problem:
Scaling down to work with the dxr3 output on tv results in a distorted, miscolored output
at the bottom of the tv (approx 10 percent). I suppose the video is not correctly scaled down.
The aspect is still 4:3 (800x600).
Also I'm missing some video at the other borders. The rest of the video plays fine with less aliasing effects.
The Matrox G400 with tvout plays the video with no distortion at the bottom but with ugly aliasing problems
due to the down scaling. Recorded video fonts end edges are poor in quality. On my monitor with full resolution
the video is beautiful.

Now my questions:
How can I get a better output at the G400
and how to solve the problem with the dxr3 (maybe it's a bug, when scaling down
videos to work with the limitations of the dxr3 tvout resolution) ?

BTW: playing the video with the tscc codec in a xwindow doesn't work because the
colorspace (BGR15 video) could not be converted and displayed on my monitor (16/24 bit depth).
Any reason for this problem ?

thanks for any help,

Thomas Kranz
