[MPlayer-users] Anyone had trouble building gtk+1.2.x for mplayer on RH8.0?

Sent a bug report to GNU awk (and GTK+ list) already.
My RH 8.0 clone has version 3.1.1 of GNU awk and this
apparently causes GTK+ 1.2.x (at least for x=6,8) to break
during make.

However, after a workaround fixing the generated files and
Makefile, GTK+ 1.2.8 works fine and the latest mplayer
(0.90rc3-3.2) works great. Following are the test used and results
to characterize the build problem.

Also included in the text below is a suggestion to support options:
-chapter 1-3,6-9,15 as a crude but effective parental guidance
to playing dvds using mplayer...
