Try with -spualign 2. This will let you control the subtitle position
with -subpos. If it still doesn't work, send a full bug report!

With a text editor and a lot of patience. :)))
Actually, there are scripts in the TOOLS dir to convert vobsubs to
text with OCR (using gocr), but the results aren't all that reliable
and the process is fairly painful (i.e. requires lots of manual
intervention).
BTW, unless the movie is really obscure, it's usually easier just to
download subtitles from dvd.box.sk. :)
