[MPlayer-users] using 2-pass with vqscale and lavc

Does it make sense to use 2-pass encoding if you're setting vqscale for
constant-quantizer lavc encoding? I know that the main reason for 2-pass
is so the rate control code can vary the quantizer to meet the bitrate
requirement. But are the statistics gathered during the first pass used
for anything else that might improve the output when using vqscale?
