[MPlayer-users] autodetect problems in configure

The "configure" script is giving me different results depending on whether its
invoked while building an rpm or from the command line. It fails to find some
things when building from an rpm.

Trying to discover the reason for the failure so far has been quite difficult.
The log file gets blown away when you do a make, which took me some time to
discover. Weird. So I had to modify the .spec to avoid calling make, so the log
file would remain.

However, the log file doesn't actually include any information about why a test
fails. It merely reports the return status, which I already knew.

I didn't see a way to get it to preserve the test files or display errors as
they occur, short of patching up the script.

Is there one?
