[MPlayer-users] Ungraceful handling of asf files (long)

I am trying to play MPEG files generated by a Sharp CE-VR1 MPEG video
recorder. These are ASF files, and will play with MS Media
player. In even the latest versions of Media Player, an auto update
seems to be required before the files will play properly. Sorry I
cannot provide more details on the Media Player info, but I do not have
any Windows machines here -- I tried it in a store.

Sample files (and a little info about the device) can be found as part
of this ebay auction (link will expire at some point):

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=11725&item=1949306251

I can also send some reasonable sized sample files and/or upload them
someplace.

Here are the results: (my files)

---- First attempt to play -----------------

MPlayer interrupted by signal 11 in module: demux_open
- MPlayer crashed by bad usage of CPU/FPU/RAM. Recompile MPlayer with
--enable-debug and make a 'gdb' backtrace and disassembly. For details,
see DOCS/bugreports.html section 5.b.
- MPlayer crashed. This shouldn't happen. It can be a bug in the MPlayer
code _or_ in your drivers _or_ in your gcc version. If you think it's
MPlayer's fault, please read DOCS/bugreports.html and follow
instructions there. We can't and won't help unless you provide these
informations when reporting a possible bug.

(I get the same error in a version pre-built for my Sharp Zaurus PDA.)
