That does not quite sound like the problem I had, but you can
nevertheless try the following:
* Use a cvs version from this year.
* Use `mplayer -tv on' with `-v' and look for a line like
buf: size=8519680, frames=4
* What is the number of frames that MPlayer reports? 1 would be bad,
2 ok in principle, but I had problems with it, 4 is better. This
number depends on your v4l-driver. For example, I have added
options bttv gbuffers=4
to /etc/modules.conf.
