I tried this this afternoon... it functions without problem. (yes I
know I am lucky ;))

> echo I am gonna have all your sisters | mail cdfs-developers
done;) it doesnt looks /usr/src/linux-2.4 by default.

> Step 9:
> RTFM
done ;) 

> Step 10:
> install cdparanoia(-dev) and recompile mplayer
> mplayer cdda://1

doesn't work here as you cannot specify the cdparanoia directory.
i did search in documentation and didn't find it.
