Not actually related to the problem, but:  Yuvscaler seems to be slow,
I prefer to have mplayer do the scaling by adding eg 
`-vop scale=352:288' to the mencvcd command line.  Yuvscaler then is
still called, but consumes not much time, since it is actually just
copying.  An option not to call yuvscaler at all would be nice.
