[MPlayer-users] mencoder sound from alternate source

I have been using mencoder to rip dvd's and convert rm's to avi's and
all that, it is great. Now I am trying to rip from tv. I get the video
just fine, but the sound will not rip. I hear the sound, it is actually
able to ocme in through 2 sources (internal audio cable, or line in
cable). it will not capture sound. I have tried using alsa, tried
specifying oss device (after alsa-oss emulation) I have the volume and
such set up for alsa like I said I can hear the sound. I tried doing the
bt878 audio driver, it claims i2c registered /dev/dsp2, but when i try
it I get Device not found. I have tried adevice= for alsa but nothing
seems to work for the device id, and I have looked everywhere to find
the device id resulting in failure.
