Only if your display is progressive (like computer monitors).
If you're using interlaced displays (like TV screens) deinterlacing will
actually hurt the overall quality (but not too much).

On the NTSC standard (North America), almost any show that was created
for TV, not for cinema theaters, is shot on interlaced material;
therefore, if you're going to watch it on progressive displays you need
to deinterlace it.
