[MPlayer-users] Cannot view movies from console

Hello
Since using rc2 i havent been able to view movies from the console. Also
tried rc3.

This is my log. I run mplayer as mplayer -vo vesa <file> as root
I have tried vesa and svga, none work. I get at the end (somehow not
getting saved when i do a log) "killed".
Using gentoo 1.4rc2 with 2.4.19, gcc 3.2, athlonxp 2100, nvidia gf4 ti
4200 with their latest drivers

Some other stuff that does not get saved in the log, mplayer says that
it cannot open /dev/rtc and should be set setuid or user accesible (i
always have needed to use mplayer as root in the console because of
vesa/svga). However that's not relevant since i get the same if i run
mplayer as root from X (using SDL )
