No, why should I? It worked perfectly on rc1...
Although i was using gentoo 1.4 rc1 at the time and i dont remember
having the rtc problem, but i dont think i need it.

Maybe some setting changed in gentoo rc2 regarding devfs which i use, i
dont know...
