Maybe a buggy bios that does not know about your processor capabilities.

Check the motherboard maker's website. There might be a bios update
that addresses this issue.

Hello,

I recently bought a ATHLON XP 1700+ THOROUGHBRED (0.13 micron) and when 
I start mplayer I get :

MPlayer 0.90rc3-3.2 (C) 2000-2003 Arpad Gereoffy (see DOCS)

CPU: Advanced Micro Devices  (Family: 6, Stepping: 0)

Does this processor really not support SSE ???? While others Athlons XP 
support it ?
