I agree completely. Most media player GUIs get in the way more than help
and keyboard control is generally more efficient than emulating a VCR. I
assume most players are like that because many people are more
comfortable with VCRs than keyboards.
The only major thing I miss with mplayer's normal (non-GUI) UI is the
ability to click on a specific point on the slider to seek to precise
point instantly. It isn't necessary, but is sometimes nice.
