[MPlayer-users] 9/0 doesn't bump volume

Playing a movie, I hear it but it is pretty low volume. I hit 9 and 0, get the volume scale on the screen, but it looks to be all
the way down and won't go up. af=volume=20 gives it the boost I need, but I still can't tweak it during playback.

So a few questions:

1. is mplayer talking to my sound card as it should?

2. what is the difference between 9-0 and /-* ?

3. why can't I adjust the volume during playback? (only simi important, cuz I can using the preamp that the sound card is hooked up
to.)

4. any other comments based on mplayer output? (I am always wondering if I should be aware of things like "VDecoder init failed :("
even though I can see the movie.)

Thanks, Carl
