i was wondering if some of the fellow mplayer users could try to play an
rtsp stream, to see if i am the only one who can't.
goto (with a web broswer):
http://supercars.ifn.cx/news/03122001.shtml
click on the link (of copy n paste it into a terminal window) right
below the picture of the movie, the link is called: "Click here to watch
the movie (you need realplayer for this)"
my copy of mplayer is 0.90, compiled by hand, with live support.
heres what i get in my terminal window:
[upgrdman at farrell upgrdman]$ gmplayer

what appear on my screen is a blakc video window, and a black sillouheet
of where my skin'ed mplayer would appear--like when mplayer auto-index's
a broken avi. but it never seems to begin playing or maybe not even
downloading, the streem.
anyone know how to fix this?
also about the realplayer fyi on the website... i do have the realplayer
codecs installed im pretty sure... i have the rp8 rpm installed. but for
some reason at the command line when i type in "realplay" to load
realplayer, it does nothing... no gui pops up, no text to the terminal
window...so i jsut have to ctrl-c to close realplay. this may be part of
my problem. i tryed the rp7 rpm earlier (before install rp8 rpm) (the
rp7 rpm from rpmfind.net, the rp8 rpm from real.com) but after
installing the rpm, the first time i load realplay, after i do its
stupid register screen that asks your zip code, connection speed,
etc...it says something about time being up for the version, and to
download a new version from real.com....piss me off. friggin real
inc...i am fine with rp7!! ;)
