Hi!
afaik lengh is calculated by
length on medium/bitrate
for mpeg - so bitrate in mpeg header is probably not very accurate.
For avi however length is calculated from number of frames (iirc, or number of
something else) in header which is much more accurate as it seems.
I am afraid that didn't help much to solve the actual problem though :)
