I play Road Trip with
mplayer dvd://1

I have the same problem. It only plays the intro then it stops playing. 
If I do
mplayer dvd://2
the film is played till end (without the intro).

With Mr. Deeds I don´t have the problem. It play´s the whole film (with 
the intro :) when  I do
mplayer dvd://1
