I just checked. It doesn't matter. This is a bug yet to be resolved.

The short story is: On some disks, a command is issued to turn the 
subtitles invisible just before they actually disappear. Unfortunately, 
MPlayer gets the timing wrong, hence the subtitles are transparent all 
the time. I hope I get the time to look into this sometime this week.
