[MPlayer-users] Mencoder segfaults when using ffmpeg

I can't seem to be able to convert anything to ffmpeg
based codecs using ffmpeg. It always core dumps 
(segfault) in the ffmpeg code.

My system is a Athlon 2K XP running RH 7.2 and I built
MPLayer RC4 using the RH 7.2 GCC 3.0 release. At
present I can't really upgrade the version of GCC on
this machine so i'm open to other options.
