I'm having a problem. I made a 3 pass enconding, trying to obtain a 700M avi frm a
vob file, but the result is much smaller (570). Any Ideas?
The steps I followed are these:
First pass:
rm frameno.avi
mencoder a.vob \
-ovc frameno \
-oac $compresion_audio \
-oac mp3lame -lameopts cbr:br=96:vol=5 -aid 129 \
-o frameno.avi
The result:
CBR audio: 12000 bytes/sec, 288 bytes/block

Then I choosen bitrate=874
mencoder a.vob \
-ovc lavc -lavcopts vcodec=mpeg4:vbitrate=874:vpass=1:vqmax=31:vhq \
-oac mp3lame -lameopts cbr:br=96:vol=5 -aid 129 \
-o a.avi
mencoder $entrada \
-ovc lavc -lavcopts vcodec=mpeg4:vbitrate=874:vpass=2:vqmax=31:vhq \
-oac mp3lame -lameopts cbr:br=96:vol=5 -aid 129 \
-o a.avi
rm divx2pass.log
Video stream: 699,369 kbit/s (87421 bps) size: 521024964 bytes 5959,946 secs
142901 frames
Audio stream: 96,000 kbit/s (11999 bps) size: 71525952 bytes 5960,496 secs
==============================================================================
The resulted file is this much smaller than the expected 700 Mb:
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 597197368 2003-03-25 17:40 a.avi
