Looks like something is broken in the audio filter layer. With -channels 
1, -oac pcm works too but the resulting files aren't playable with -ao 
alsa=mmap when the af_channels filter engages - play_mmap receives only 
requests with length of zero! Again, with -ao alsa=mmap -channels 1 they 
play ok.
