I am also having audio/video sync problems with latest mplayer, when
watching or recording TV with mplayer or mencoder. The video is delayed.
I am using a PixelView PlayTVPro card.

With mplayer I use the commmand line:

$ mplayer -tv
+on:driver=v4l:device=/dev/video0:norm=PALM:width=640:height=480:chanlist=us-cable:channel+=9

The problem does not happen with xawtv, and did not happen with
prior versions with mplayer.

Something may have changed in the code of mplayer which is
causing the problem.
