Hi.

mkfifo mypipe
lame .... mypipe ... &
mplayer -ao pcm -aofile mypipe -vo null -vc dummy -dvd 1 -aid 128

That way mplayer will decode the AC3 to raw PCM which lame should
understand. No need for any other external AC3 decoder.
