[MPlayer-users] Feature Request: LivePause/Timeshift

Hi,

when you watch or listen a live-stream/live-tv there's often a situation
in which you need to pause (e.g. receiving a call or going onto the
potty, ...).

MPlayer is missing a LivePause/timeshift-function here.

The simpliest way would be to implement a secondary, disk-based cache.

So you could e.g. set the command-line option -disk-cache=XXXXX, where
XXXXX at least should allow 2 GByte. When the primary, memory-based
cache ("-cache"-option) reaches 75 % all additional data should be
written into the secondary disk-cache.

That method would allow fast, memory-based caching for short scenes and
LivePause with the disk-cache.

Any chance anyone will implement that?

Rene
