what do you mean with "less resilient to errors and audio dies too 
easily" ?  
I know that demux_ts is full of  problems (HDTV with ac3 doesn't work 
acceptably, and seeking should be simply disabled),
but I never saw it die because of audio problems.
If you can give me a sample (ore more) to show what goes wrong I will 
try to fix my code.
