gcc331 with CFLAGS like ...

-O1 -march=athlon-xp -mcpu=athlon-xp -pipe -ffast-math -fomit-frame-pointer

.. works .. O1 is not that great but anyway ... sound sounds (jikes) not 
blurry anymore ...
