[MPlayer-users] Compiling error

Hi to everybody

I'm a linux newbye and I had problems during the installation of mplayer 
v. 0-92.
./configure and make went good but during the make install it stops with 
a message

gcc: libmpcodecs/libmpencoders.a: No such file or directory
make: *** [mencoder] Error 1

and effectively libmpcodecs/libmpencoders.a doesn't exists. I swear that 
I didn't touch anything. Where is the mistake ?
I own a Linux Redhat 9, kernel version 2.4.20-8.
