Hi,

short answer: mencoder is not about ease of use, it is about enabling
the (power) user to do / fine tune everything he wants to. If you want
ease of use use some kind of frontend / gui.

(BTW: You can't even use GordianKnot without reading some kind of
guide. Oh of course you CAN, but don't expect to achieve the best
results.)
