Thanks, I compiled MPlayer with libavcodec and xvid support as you said, and I 
can watch DivX encoded files nicely now. I'm wondering though, why is there 
such an extensive documentation about how to download and install the 
projectmayo/divx.com files in http://www.mplayerhq.hu/DOCS/en/codecs.html 
(and in the first place, above the documentation about libavcodec and xvid, 
with that), if they're completely useless? Or may the documentation just be a 
bit out-of-date? ;-)
