[MPlayer-users] Suggested Packages for a debian compile

I want to build mplayer and not use an unsupported binary package.  The
problem is, when I run fakeroot debian/rules binary, it fails to detect
a lot of stuff that I want to use.  Is there a list somewhere of debian
packages (or other stuff) that would make the mplayer configure script
enable various features?
