I'll tell what I'm going to do.

This is an old computer (Pentium 233 MMX) with Libranet 2.7 (kernel
2.4.19, XFree 4.2.0) installed a few weeks ago. As it's a nearly fresh
install, but a bit too bloated for me, I'll delete everything and do a
basic install. I'll try changing my sources to testing (Sarge), that
comes with kernel 2.4.20 and XFree 4.2.1, the same as Vector Linux 3.2,
where MPlayer compiled well, and do a dist-upgrade. Next, I'll download
the latest version of MPlayer and try compiling again. 

If that doesn't works, I'll throw away my Millenium card :>)
