I would think so too, but when using -vobsub <basename> with mencoder it
say that vobsub is not an mencoder option, and when using -sub file.sub
it doesn't recognize the subtitle format.

Btw I am using:

MEncoder 1.0pre3try2-3.3.3 (C) 2000-2003 MPlayer Team
