I was trying this within the bash script, and it seemed to be ignoring
it.  After getting your message, I tried adding it to cron itself, and
it is now recognizing it at least.  However, it still isn't working.  At
least I now have something new to look for.  :0.0 is what DISPLAY is set
to.

Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server
Xlib: No protocol specified

vo: couldn't open the X11 display (:0.0)!
Error opening/initializing the selected video_out (-vo) device.
