[MPlayer-users] Movie night and no subtitles

Trying to play a dvd that was copied to a hard dirve. One of the vob files
cause the target machine to hang, so used dvdbackup and rsync to get the dvd
image to the target machine.

OSD works fine but *no* subtitles. xine shows the subtitles on one machine,
but xine crashes on the target machine. Mplayer plays fine but just no
subtitles. Spent a few hours searching docs and online without luck.
Hitting "v" says "Subtitles: enabled" on screen but no subtitles.

Where do I look now?
