[MPlayer-users] Can't get digital sound on Revolution 7.1

I've done some more experimenting, but still no
success. The closest I've come is when I included in
asoundrc:

pcm.ice1724 {
       type hw
       card 0
       device 0
}

ctl.ice1724 {
       type hw
       card 0
       device 0
}

pcm.ice1724_digital {
       type hw
       card 0
       device 1
}

ctl.ice1724_digital {
       type hw
       card 0
       device 1
}

pcm_slave.ice1724_S32_LE {
   pcm ice1724
   format S32_LE
}

pcm.ice1724_convert {
   type plug
   slave ice1724_S32_LE
}

pcm_slave.ice1724_S32_LE_digital {
   pcm ice1724_digital
   format S32_LE
}

pcm.ice1724_convert_digital {
   type plug
   slave ice1724_S32_LE_digital

}

With asoundrc set as above, and including
-alsa9:ice1724_digital
in my mplayer command line, I get a buzzing sound out
the S/PDIF connection, but still no audio.

If anyone has a Revolution 7.1 running with S/PDIF
sound on Linux, I'd appreciate your advice.
