if I choose xmga then it says error in initializing vo

the VGA card is a asus V3800 / 32 M (i think an nVidia
Geoforce 3 compatible) the nVidia driver is installed
in the system 

i tried to read the manual but it said that DivX
codecs should not be a problem (except in encoding) 

How can I play this DVD ?
