Set your video output to xv

mplayer dvd://1 -vo xv -ao alsa9

or, make the changes in the GUI 'Preferences, Video -
select xv'.

Thanks, but did try that option actually tried all 3
options x11, xv and xvidix . The dvd almost starts a
black screen comes up then fails suddenly. The config
is PIII 1000c 256 RAM I guess should run it ???
